Fitness & Skills goes hand-in-hand

Fitness & Skills goes hand-in-hand ...

Dog Agility Training at Polo Club

Last weekend, both Millie and myself went for the SG IFCS World Championship Qualifier Event at the Singapore Polo Club. Great to see how the Sport of Dog Agility in Singapore has grown and now we have multiple opportunities to compete in the World Stage.

We have the Cynosport World Games Qualifier held in June 2015 and now the IFCS Championship Qualifier last weekend. Having to compete with the best teams in Singapore and in the combination of Standard Agility, Jumpers Class and Snooker Class was a blast!

Congrats to all the Winners and Qualifiers to IFCS 2016!

This qualifer dawn upon me that Fitness and Skills goes hand-in-hand. Millie was doing great, reading me like a book, giving me her best in the runs. However due to the lack of match practice, ME the handler, failed my dog BIG TIME. Below are the areas whcih I think I need to work on, in order for this great team to flourish.

1. Practice, Practice, Practice to get in-sync with each other,

2. Fitness - lack of fitness drag the team down,

3. Focus - Don't think too much, follow the flow,

4. Have Faith, believe in the training, and lastly

5. Always have fun, which I thoroughly enjoyed my runs with Millie.

So it's back to the drawing board. Need to set time for training and get into match fitness is the key.

We shall be BACK! Failure is not the end, but the journey to GREATNESS!

Cheers

Dexter
