Looking into the importance!
Time flies and we are into the 2nd Month of 2015 and we have even USHER in the Year of the GOAT! Wishing everyone a Prosperous, Healthy, Wealthy & Eventful Lunar New Year!
During one of the local competition, I was discussing with some of my students on the average age of my Pack. Lo and behold, my youngest girl is now at her 4th Year and the real youngsters are my adopted ACER turning 2 in 4 months’ time, while the other is PICCA who is 3.
If you ask me do I have a regret, I would say, I did not make time to train BenjiXHershy’s girl, GUINNESS. Can you believe it, Guinness is 4 turning 5 very soon?
I always wanted to train this talented girl but I regret not continuing from here I left off when she is 1 years old. However it’s never too late. I have started to work on her contacts, jumps and weave-poles …. She’s been a natural and I’m very pleased with her improvement. I have also started to work on ACER on Obedience and hopefully he can do well too. Of course I’m continue to work with PICCA and MILLIE on their respective training.
I started their basic training on 2nd Day of CNY, I work with GUINNESS on A-fame and Dog-walk. She is good and now she can maintain her 2o2o at the contacts before I release her from the position. On the 3rd Day of CNY, I started working on Weave-poles, Lead-out and Forward Motion Drills. She is very good and getting what is require for the drills.
As for ACER, I work ONLY on the ATTENTION. Using the ON & OFF buttons and how to engage this young boy and keep his attention. Not so easy though, but we are gaining ground.
It’s been a very encouraging sessions I had with the 2 REDs, but unfortunately, I sprain my back and now I need to rest to get ready for work on Monday. But I must say, I left both of them wanting more in training and that will proof the differences as we progress through our training syllabus.
